Italian chemical companies are strongly engaged in Sustainable Development. Such a commitment requires significant investments (more than 1 billion euros in 2018) and has produced concrete results. In fact, all main environmental indicators register a very significant performance and the chemical industry is one of the safest sectors in Italy.
In Italy Federchimica has been managing the worldwide Responsible Care Programme together with its member companies for more than 25 years.
From 2006, INAIL (the National Institute for Insurance against Injuries at Work), has signed an agreement with Federchimica. It provides discounted rates for firms participating in the Responsible Care programme, recognizing their efforts in prevention and safety promotion in the workplace. That agreement has been renoved in 2013, 2016 and 2019.
